Conversations
Members of the Alliance community are encouraged to engage in Conversations, which are a more intensive engagement between people of different backgrounds, race, ethnicity, and religion. A Conversations group is a subset of people in The Alliance Community who agree to meet on a regular basis (at least quarterly) for a year or longer. An example of a Conversations group are members of a black church and a synagogue.
The participants agree to listen and learn, socialize, and travel together and, after a foundation of trust is established, to talk about the tough issues. We seek to build relationships, build trust, build friendships, and build community. The Alliance provides a set of principles called the “Pillars of Trust”, basic methods and rules for engaging in constructive dialogue. The Alliance staff is available to assist with development and/or to facilitate discussions and ongoing activities for Conversations groups.
