The Historical Relationship Between Blacks and Jews

“The Alliance of Trust (AOT) is partnering with the Institute for Black Solidarity with Israel (IBSI) to present a multipart course on the “Historical Relationship Between Blacks and Jews”. The purpose of this course is to create a common baseline of information that will facilitate Blacks and Jews coming together in order to build relationships, trust, friendships and community.
Certain historical experiences including oppression, slavery, and genocide should not divide us, but many in our communities are lacking in a basic knowledge and understanding of the ‘other’. With a firmer foundation of our shared history, AOT seeks to build ‘Conversations’ groups to engage in constructive dialogue and lead in the effort to combat racism and antisemitism.” The following is an outline of the program:
  • Week 1—Introduction, sponsor backgrounds, and historical perspectives.
Week 2—Biblical perspectives and Jewish wanderings.
Week 3—African American history in America.
Week 4—Israel and its fight for survival.
    Week 5—Advancing our communities.
Week 6—The future and what we can DO together.

More information about the program content, instructors, class schedule, and how to register will be forthcoming.
